Answer:  FACING YOU

(Technically, it’s gaze is fixed.  It’s up to you to be facing it!  But, I DO love this pun.  We’ve had a number of Mount Rushmore Jumbles in the past, but I think with other pun-swers.  This one seems fresh.

None of today’s clue words are new.  However, two of the jumbles appear to be so.  We have seen both “grinio” and “lanfie” sometime in the last twelve to thirteen years.  I had to come back to “grinio”, as “origin” didn’t come to me . . . at first.  But, I was able to get it honestly.  The answer letter layout was a fine nine letter jumble.  Cryptic enough.  I would say that this was a quick visual solve.

And, It’s all due to the great cartoon depiction of the young family visiting the Black Hills National Forest, in Keystone, South Dakota.  I’ve yet to see it in person, but it’s on my bucket list.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Hi Yur. I was hoping to hear back from you, but I understand, and there’s no hard feelings here. I wanted to apologize for not responding to you when you attempted to reach out many years ago. It was rude and inconsiderate, and for that, I’m sorry.

When you commented on my blog, I was asked to block you becase someone said they felt uncomfortable by your words. It’s been so long that I don’t recall the exchange, and I definitely don’t remember seeing anything unreasonable, but I foolishy went ahead and did it anyway.

I’ve since fixed my mistake, and wanted to personally welcome you back if you’re so inclined. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and truly hope that you’ll accept my apology.

    Be well,

    —Mike

Hello Mike. I really don’t have a clue as to what you’re talking about. Curiosity did lead me to your blog a couple of years ago, or so, when you first started it. But, I’m relatively sure that I never posted a comment there. At that time, I remember mentioning – on my blog – that I suddenly had competition, but not much more than that. I’ve even told some readers, who don’t appreciate when I get political, that there are the other Jumble answer sites out there, and to have a nice life, but that’s about it.

One of your friends is a semi-frequent commenter here. She doesn’t try to sway anyone to your blog, so there’s no problem there.

I did recently – and ironically – get a comment from somebody who had – somehow – spoofed my blog name. It didn’t say anything bad, but I deleted it anyway. Would you happen to know anything about that? Has that ever happened to your blog? There are just so many people trying to pull scams out there, right?

Thank you for the apology, and the welcome, but it really isn’t necessary. With the two daily spoilers, replying to my readers, and trying to reciprocate with the readers who have “Liked” my posts, I really don’t have time to visit the other Jumble sites.

But, if you have the time to read this blog don’t be shy about posting a comment every now and then. I accept about 99.9% of all comments.

    Good luck to you,
    YUR

Thanks for the reply, Yur. Maybe I’ve got it all wrong, and that wouldn’t surprise me, but now I can stop thinking about it. If you’re happy, I’m happy!

I’ve never had a problem with spammers. As you know, Akismet does most of the heavy lifting. All I have to do is check the spam folder now and again to make sure an actual reply hasn’t been flagged. Although rare, it has happened on a few occasions.

Have you added the ip address from the spoof email to your block list? If it becomes a recurring problem you may want to give it a shot. You can always send me an email if you’re unfamiliar with the process and I’ll gladly guide you through it.

Have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll keep in touch.

p.s. It’s cool with me if you delete this exchange. 🙂

Thanks a bunch, Mike! Yeah, that spoofed wannabe-me *comment* was trashed already. If it has the nerve to show up again maybe I’ll request your assistance. You enjoy the Super Bowl weekend, too! — YUR
