Cryptoquote Spoiler – 02/24/21

Gail Devers Biography - Childhood, Life Achievements & Timeline

Remember all things are possible for those who believe.”   —   Gail Devers

(Our first quote from Ms. Yolanda Gail Devers!  But, don’t call her Yoli!  She’ll probably say:  “That’s Not My Name”.  Gail was at risk for losing her feet to amputation, when radiation treatments for Grave’s disease caused them to blister and swell, to the point where she had to crawl or be carried!  Fortunately, that wasn’t necessary, as the radiation treatments ended, and the swelling and blistering subsided.  And, she went on to win multiple gold and silver medals throughout her illustrious career.  We welcome her to the Cryptoquote Club today.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Team Metric » Roman Numerals to Hindi Numerals

Answer:  ROAMIN‘” NUMERALS

(Gotta love the classics!  Classic stinky puns that is.  Today’s Jumble utilizes two of ancient Rome’s greatest contributions to their success:  Roman numerals and one of their great engineering feats.  Their aqueducts and prolific road building had as much to do with expanding their empire as did their well regimented, and disciplined, military might.  Many of both still exist to this day, as do many of their bridges and tunnels.  And, that’s just a few of Rome’s engineering marvels.  The calendars that we use today are based on Roman calendars.  Of course they used Roman numerals!  Even today, when we want to be fancy schmancy, we use Roman numerals!  We see them on buildings, monuments, copyright dates on movies and television . . . and on Super Bowls!

Would you believe that Hoyt has done it again?  Yes, he has given us another new clue word, in “sitcom”!  I think he’s been saving them up, in a secret file, to dole them out ONLY when he sees fit.  Our friend, ralis95, will have to update his world famous clue word database once again!  All of today’s jumbles came up as new for me.  The only one that got me was – ironically – “ctmios”!  I couldn’t see “sitcom” to save my life!  I had to back into it, after getting the final answer.  Thankfully, there were enough clues for me to quickly solve that.

Very amusing cartoon.  I always enjoy Jeff’s animated letters and numbers.  And, he did a great job capturing the Italian countryside.  Hey, if you put these numeral together you get 66.  So, maybe they’re getting their kicks . . . on Route LXVI?  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
