(In more ways than one, I’m sure!  With my hands, my skin has gotten so thin.  You can easily see my veins.  And, when they’re straight/relaxed the skin has a crepe paper aspect to it.  The  hands always give your age away.  One of the many joys of aging!  The Jumble Answer was a fun pun.  I had to coach my daughter a little bit for her to see it.  She wasn’t familiar with the expression.  But, she liked it!

We have a new clue word today in “ninja”!  The big boss-man, ralis95, will have to add it to his world famous clue word database.  I believe all of the jumbles are new today.  I added them as Tags, but I can’t currently see them.  Hopefully, they show when I post this.  Ninja definitely took a few looks!  The other clue words came to me immediately.  The answer letter layout is a tris·kai·dek·a-jumble!  Beautifully cryptic.  Nothing given away.  But I think most of you guys figured this out.

With the sweater and the mittens, this definitely looks like our Bernie Sanders!  Nice job, Jeff!  It doesn’t look a whole lot like Jane, but maybe she looks more grandmotherly when she’s at home.  Cute kid.  You really need woolen mittens – and sweaters – for those Vermont winters!   Thankfully, we’re finally seeing spring-like weather around here.  Heard some peepers the other night!  Happy Passover to all of our Jewish readers!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Cryptoquote Spoiler – 03/31/21

(Does this quote sound familiar to you guys?  I think we had a Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson quote just a little while ago, but I couldn’t find it Googling.  Maybe since I haven’t posted in a while Google has dropped me in their ranking scheme???  Anyway, it’s a great sports kinda quote that can apply to all areas of one’s life.  I’ve watched a few episodes of “Young Rock”, and it is done VERY well.  The actors playing the various wrestlers in his life are very close to the real ones, even the young guy who plays the teenage Rock.  Very entertaining.  Maybe Dwayne will actually run for President in 15 years!  Why not?  We’ve had a wrestler Governor, in Jesse “The Body” Ventura.  A body builder/actor Governor, in Arnold Schwarzenegger.  And an actor President, in Ronald Reagan!  I think Dwayne would be better than that “Reality Star” train wreck that we just . . . barely . . . survived!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(WordPress has gone and done it again, but this time there does not seem to be a workaround. At least I can’t find it. They have removed the Classic mode, and have made their Block mode mandatory. Nothing about this Block mode is intuitive to me. There is only a very cursory Tool Bar, and I can’t work this way.

The Classic mode was very user friendly, and I don’t understand: why they are changing what always worked, and why WordPress could not have somehow communicated the changes with us, the users. I guess it’s true, you get what you pay for! LOL! I’m just getting too old for this crap. I’m sorry to say that this looks like it is the end of Uncle Rave’s Wordy Weblog.

Jumble Spoiler – 03/24/21

(Excellent pun!  I don’t think this was a s t r e t ch by any means.  I thought it was an easy r e a c h.  But, I have to admit that I was not aware of the fact that mammals have the same number of cervical – neck – vertebrae!  I guess I just never thought about it.  I’ll have to store this in my memory banks, in case it comes up on Jeopardy, or something.

We’ve seen all of today’s clue words in past Jumbles.  Three of the jumbles appear to be new, with only “lentk” having definitely been used before.  I was able to see all the clue words immediately this morning.  The answer letter layout was a nifty nine letter jumble.  I knew that NECK had to be in the answer, but I’ve been a little fuzzy lately in seeing the pun aspect.  But, I did get the answer in about seven seconds.

I always enjoy Jeff’s cartoons with kids and animals.  Almost as much as anthropomorphic animals, historical period pieces, sports themed puzzles, TV/Movie themed ones, and sea scenes with the classic sinking sailboats.  Congrats to Jeff for being the Champion of the 11th annual JCC Poker Tourney in Indiana!  Today’s song is dedicated to you, bud.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I was quite surprised to find “frisk” to be a new clue word!  Our friend ralis95 will have to update his world famous clue word database!  All four of the jumbles appear to be new.  I was able to get them all right away.  The answer letter layout was an enigmatic eleven letter jumble.  I got the final answer right away because of the cartoon.

Jumble Spoiler – 03/22/21

(What DO the French say when they pose for a photo?  I’m pretty sure they don’t say FROMAGE!  Unless they don’t like to smile in their pictures.  Maybe our friend Micheline can educate us.  She’s really French-Canadian, but it stands to reason that it would apply to our friends to the North.  How about it, dear lady?

Not a new clue word to be found.  But they’re all words that haven’t been used in a while.  Three of the jumbles appear to be new, but we’ve definitely seen “hvose” before.  I  really like “usonic”!  It sounds like it should be a real word.  I’m sure some sharp marketing mind could do great things with a word like “usonic”.  The answer letter layout was a nifty nine letter jumble.  But you didn’t need to be Marie Curie, or Marilyn vos Savant, to figure out the answer.  I threw them in because we’re currently celebrating Women’s History month.  Did anyone – besides me – notice that Black History month was kind of given short shrift this year, but Women’s History is all the rage???  Why is that?  And, other than the idiot/racist/shit who shot up the massage parlors, I’m seeing the vast majority of attacks on Asians coming from Blacks/African Americans!  The media has remained decidedly mum on the issue, but I find it highly disturbing that one oppressed minority is taking things out on another minority!  What do the Psychologists/Psychiatrists have to say about this phenomenon???  Where is Rodney King through all of this?  “Can we all get along?”  Hate SUCKS, no matter who is doing the hating.  We should be able to ALL get along.  I think it starts with:  Can we all smarten up?  Because too many of us are wallowing in our own ignorance.  Let’s ALL make a conscious effort to smarten up, people.  A society divided against itself, cannot stand.  And if we cannot stand, how can we possibly move forward?
