“Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence.” — Robert Frost
(Perhaps *being educated* would be more apt than “education”. Because “education” is more of a process, than an “ability”. But either way, you can be educated in something that is total crap. Because if you were paying attention to it, and totally bought into it, you could be a complete – unwitting – buffoon. I just find this quote to be a little odd. Maybe, it’s about knowing better? Because when I hear flat earthers and creationists speak I could easily lose my temper. But I also know that that would be a waste of my time, because – generally – you can’t change how people have been indoctrinated. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Happy birthday to Jeff Lynne! (He co-wrote this song with Tom Petty, and sings backup on it.)
Unc, who was that in lying on the floor at time mark 3:01 in ”Learning To Fly” ?
I’m wondering if it was Robert Kennedy. But, why would that vignette be in this video ?
My favorite Tom Petty tune: “I Won’t Back Down”.
You’d know that would appeal to a Marine !
I can’t help it. It appeals to my stubborn streak, which has gotten me into lots of trouble on some occasions.
Yes, that was RFK, lwc. I think Tom was just showing some of the times that influenced his life. I guess he witnessed a nuclear test sometime in the ’50s when he was around 5 or 6, then his first experience with an older girl/young woman, as a pool boy. Then as he got into music, I guess as some kind of roadie. Bobby’s assassination affected a lot of us, and likely affected his world view and such. A little like Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire”, but much less jam packed.
