Clue/Question: When her husband pretended to be a hula dancer, he was – – –
Answer: NO GREAT SHAKES
(He’s probably doing as good a job as I could do! Not that I’ve ever had the opportunity to dance the hula, but my entire life I’ve never been able to hula hoop! I spin the damn thing, and try to get my hips swaying rhythmically, but it quickly ends up on the floor/ground! I could always get a good laugh out of my daughter with my attempts though.
All of today’s clue words are already on the ralis95 clue word database. Three of the jumbles appear to be new, but we have seen “girnio” before. It took me a couple of looks before I saw “skier”! The answer letter layout was a thrilling thirteen letter jumble. Furiously cryptic. I didn’t know where the heck the boys were going with this one. My initial answer was: NO STAGE SHAKER. Hey, it fits! And, he IS on a STAGE! I figured if he couldn’t shake his hips, he probably wasn’t shaking that stage either! I’d never heard of such an idiom, but I thought maybe it’s one of those weird Midwestern-isms. Only as I was beginning to type this spoiler did I consider that SHAKER could be SHAKES. And, moving that “R” made it GREAT!
Cute cartoon of the vacationers enjoying their trip to Hawaii. Nice tropical drinks, tiki torches, and the leis. And, way off in the distance, the tiny sinking sailboat on the horizon! Maybe someday I’ll go to Hawaii. But it’s not in my immediate plans. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
