“Be civil to all; sociable to many; familiar with few; friend to one; enemy to none.” —Benjamin Franklin
(I think we might have had this quote before. But, despite that, I had a Hell of a time getting this one started! From the beginning I thought the “P” might be the “E”, but I could not discount the “J”. I didn’t see the author until I was nearly half way through. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Happy Birthday to Janelle Monáe! (A super cute little lady, who wouldn’t be attracted to me, but such is life!)
Clue/Question: The person putting up the new billboard was – – –
Answer: ASSIGNEDTHEJOB
(Interesting pun. I would’ve thought that David might have gone “A-SIGNED” THE JOB, but playing it straight works too. This poor desk jockey is really out of his element, isn’t he?! But when the boss says “Jump!” sometimes you just have to ask: How high, sir/ma’am? I thought the Jumble was challenging on a few levels.
None of today’s clue words were new. However, all of the jumbles appear to be so. I actually had to give a few looks to both “nmsiu” and to “gaotue”. Fortunately, I didn’t have to back into them, because without their six letters I never would’ve had a chance at the final answer. The answer letter layout was an electric eleven letter jumble. Truly cryptic. I was able to suss out JOB right away, but then I thought that the first word might be ending in ING. I guess I should’ve picked up on the WAS in the clue/question, but it still could have ended in ING. But I couldn’t do anything with the remaining DESSA. But it was enough for me to re-assess the entire first word. “A-SIGNED”, or “A-SIGN-ED” might have been easier for me to see.
Fine cartoon of guys putting up a billboard. The regular guy is cool, calm and collected. The desk jockey looks sufficiently harried. I like the pigeons on top of the sign. I wonder whose birthdays it’s supposed to be? Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
