Image result for music

In a world of peace and love, music would be the universal language.”   —   Henry David Thoreau

(It kind of is anyway.  Hopefully, that means there is more peace and love in this world than most of us might think.  Let’s strive to make it so.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The more unintelligent a man is, the less mysterious existence seems to him.”   —   Arthur Schopenhauer

We may find in the long run that tinned food is a deadlier weapon than the machine gun.   —   George Orwell

(Aah.  Such a Brit, that George!  But speaking of food, have any of our brilliant leaders tried offers of food, and other forms of humanitarian assistance, to North Korea, as opposed to all these threats and saber rattling?  Our corporate media spends SO much time either making fun of Kim Jung-un, and/or demonizing him, to the point where our nukes are at the ready, with 45’s finger itching to push the button.  I have long been a follower of global relations, and I can’t remember the last time we made an overt, positive gesture to the overly so-called “rogue nation”.  Start out by sending the dude a case of Snickers bars, for Christ’s sake!  Remember about 30 years ago, or so, people were asking:  “Don’t the Russians love their children too?”  Be well and do good, friends.  And, try not to buy into the hype.)   —   YUR

Image result for Mel Brooks

Tragedy is when I cut my finger.  Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer.”   —   Mel Brooks

(I’m pretty sure we’ve had a Mel Brooks quote in the past.  Such a talented and funny funny man.  Writer, actor, director and producer.  Mel does it all.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Rain is grace; rain is the sky condescending to the earth; without rain, there would be no life.”   —   John Updike

(A very appropriate Earth Day quote!  Be well and do good friends . . . of the earth!)   —   YUR

Image result for Egyptian Cats

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.”   —   Terry Pratchett

(I think cat lovers kinda like being subservient to their . . . masters!  I grew up with both cats and dogs, and love them both.  But dogs don’t claw the furniture, or curtains.  And, I’d rather walk my dog three or four times a day, than have to deal with a litter box!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Having children makes you no more a parent than having a piano makes you a pianist.”   —   Michael Levine

(Very true!  Wow!  There seem to be a lot of Michael Levines who could have said this.  I’m betting that it either has to be the bassist/keyboardist for the Canadian band Triumph, or the American composer.  Fortunately, both of them are still alive.  So, if either of them want to lay claim to this quote they can just write to yer buddy, yer pal, Unclerave’s Wordy Weblog, just to set the world straight on this matter of great import.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
