The Old England 老英格蘭 at Cing Jing, Taiwan | Darren Bloggie 達人的部落格 - Singapore Lifestyle Blog

Reputation is often got without merit and lost without fault.”   —   English Proverb

(I guess this is THE only English Proverb out there to quote, as they have used this two other times in the not so distant past.  We saw it on 01/13/18 AND 04/14/20!  I knew it sounded familiar.  Something strange is going on over at the Cryptoquote.  They are relying on a ton of re-runs.  Still no closer to finding someone to complain to.  That site I posted a few days ago was a red herring.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Ralph Waldo Emerson and the Transcendentalism Movement - SciHi BlogSciHi Blog

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.”   —   Ralph Waldo Emerson

(Yeah.  Good old Ralph!  We’ve had a lot of Emerson quotes over the years.  Does this one seem familiar to anybody?  I’m too far behind to go searching.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

There ain’t no way to find out why a snorer can’t hear himself snore.”   —   Mark Twain

(And again, we saw this exact quote back in April of this year!  I don’t know what is going on over at Cryptoquote world, but I wish they would only give us really old re-runs, and not these recent ones.  It wasn’t even a difficult one.  We don’t even have anyone in particular to complain to.  It could be the property of Word-Game-World.com, so I’m going to provide their Contact Us url below.  Feel free to use it to log a complaint.  I think my earlier estimation was incorrect, folks.  I am deleting the link.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

akg-images - LÉON GAMBETTA

Great ability without discretion comes almost invariably to a tragic end.”   —   Léon Gambetta

(I think this great ability that he spoke of must have been the power that he witnessed being wielded, during his life in politics.  He made it all the way to Prime Minister of France, before his untimely death at the age of 44.  Apparently, he had been handling a pistol when it accidentally went off, shooting himself in the arm.  The wound – while not fatal – was healing very slowly, and while he was recovering he was stricken with appendicitis.  In 1882 that was almost always fatal.  But, we welcome Monsieur Gambetta to the Cryptoquote Club today.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Funny Phyllis Diller - Legacy.com

When I go to the beauty parlor, I always use the emergency entrance.  Sometimes I just go for an estimate.”   —   Phyllis Diller

(Yes!  We’ve seen this quote before.  And, pretty recently.  It was the Cryptoquote for 04/13/20.  If it wasn’t such a funny quote I might complain!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Job E. Hedges - Wikipedia

Lots of people know a good thing the minute the other fellow sees it first.”   —   J. E. Hedges

(I’m guessing that this quote is from the photographer based in Georgia.  That’s all I could find with my Google search.  No bio on the person.  It could be a woman, for all I know.  Never mind!  I found her.  She’s a Julie!  We welcome Julie to the Cryptoquote Club today!  Be well and do good, friends. This is definitely Job E. Hedges, as per Angela’s research!  Not Julie.  Google still has numerous attributions to a Job E. Hodges, but maybe they all experienced some kind of auto-correct issue?  Dunno!  Don’t really care.  I just don’t want to be part of the internet misinformation problem.  Darn!  WordPress won’t let me edit the Tag!  I can’t remove Julie E. Hedges.  Oh, well.  Be well and do good, friends.)    YUR

Moderation is a virtue only in those who are thought to have an alternative.”   —   Henry Kissinger

(I think the jury is still out on whether he has done more good or bad for the United States.  A lot of the world hates his guts.  All I know is that I believe that he has a black heart.  No, I’m not a fan.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

How Mark Twain Became a Free Trader - The Globalist

Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because fiction is obliged to stick to the possibilities; truth isn’t.”   —   Mark Twain

(I don’t think that anyone could have written the story of the 2016 U.S. Presidential election, or the past 3 and 3/4 years.  Not even Dean Koontz, or Clive Barker!  It’s been the nightmare that I can’t seem to wake up from.  If all good things must come to an end then I guess that this too shall pass.  Don’t give up hope, folks!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Gilmore: 'Coretta Scott-King's efforts to immortalize her husband's legacy' | The Atlanta Voice

Hate is too great a burden to bear.  It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.”   —   Coretta Scott King

(So nice to finally see a quote from the wife of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.!  Coretta was also a civil rights activist, who carried on her husband’s work, following his assassination, for the rest of her life.  We welcome Coretta Scott King to the Cryptoquote Club today.  Treat others as you would have them treat you, folks.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

It is sheer madness to live in want in order to be wealthy when you die.”   —   Juvenal

(I couldn’t agree more!  Except, most of us don’t know when we’re going to die, and we simply don’t want to starve to death, or die destitute.  So, we can’t afford to be foolhardy.  Like most things in life, moderation is the key.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
