(I guess the majority of the articles sold at Victoria’s Secret would then qualify as “soft-wear”!  I hope I didn’t just spoil an upcoming Jumble!  When Under Armour started getting popular, I always thought it was the skateboarding and surfing clothing company Hurley.  Very similar logos.  Hey, Bob!  If you ever decide to sue Kevin Plank I think I deserve a piece of the action!

No new clue words today.  All of the jumbling seemed new to me, but not very difficult.  The answer letter layout was splendid.  The fifth jumble!  At first, I thought this might be another Seinfeld syndication-type puzzler, but I quickly realized the five letter word was STORE.  After I wrote out the remaining letters I figured out the pun.  The shovel should have clued me in, but I guess I was a little slow on the uptake.  Cute Cartoon.  Kind of a Friar Tuck/Ish Kabibble haircut on the salesman.  You old-timers know what I’m talking about.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

  1. You know, you’re right about the similarity to the Hurley logo, but at the moment if there’s any confusion it’s probably helping Hurley’s sales …

  2. I had to google the haircut- looks like Mo’s hair from The Three Stooges! Say, UR, one thing you mentioned several months ago, I tried to find, and couldn’t- do you remember a quote you wrote, I don’t remember it word for word, but something like, ‘everything in order, and everything in its place’- could you please clue me in on the reference?? I was stumped despite my best (not great) google attempts. Thanks!!

  3. jenn,

I don’t remember it as a cryptoquote. Maybe it was something that I was just riffing on, either in my jumble or cryptoquote commentary. If so, I probably said: “A place for everything and everything in its place.”, popularized by Charles A. Goodrich, but likely borrowed from Ben Franklin’s: “A place for everything, everything in its place.” Essentially the same, except for one has “and”, while the other just has the comma.

That’s all I can think of, jenn. Hope that was it. — YUR

  4. Hi UR! Yep, that was it, thanks! It was included in the comment section after you reveal the jumble answers. You gave us a bit of a challenge about it. Honestly, initially I thought it was a quote from ‘Mary Poppins’, or a similar movie/book! Interesting to read about Mr. Goodrich. P.S.-His dad’s name was Chauncy- our rescue basset also is named Chauncy…I believe he is the only hyper basset on the planet!

  5. 🙂 Glad I could help! Maybe your basset is part jack russell, but only got the russell disposition genes. — YUR

  6. And I always thought it was the Hobie logo—and I thought it was odd Under Armour was using it, but figured they were part of the same company. Somethings you can just go way down the wrong road!

Loved this jumbler. And loved the soft-wear comment! Good one!

Jenn, my mom used to say ‘A place for everything and everything in it’s place.” I think it was mama—any way, someone close to us used to say it!
