All I ask is the chance to prove that money can’t make me happy!”   —   Spike Milligan

(Is that asking so much?  Huh?  The only money that would really make me happy is the amount to pay off:  my mortgage(s), kids college loans, and assorted credit cards.  It’s a good bet, that once that’s met, I’d be set!  But as of yet, the threat of dying in debt is my leading cause of fret . . . and sweat.   Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(Remember The Paper Chase, with John Houseman?  At first it was a popular novel, then it was a hit movie, and a few years later it became a television series.  It was all about aspiring barristers in law school.  The thing I remember most was that Houseman was the no nonsense professor, Charles Kingsfield, who prepared his students for the profession of the law.  He became kind of a cultural icon, who went on to star in the Smith Barney investment commercials, where his famous tagline was:  “They make money the old fashioned way . . . They earn it.”  Good stuff!  I haven’t thought about that show, or John Houseman, in years.  Another funny thing is that so many of today’s celebrity birthday celebrants were big around this same time!  Check your newspaper.

There were no new clue words today.  They were all newly jumbled, from what I could tell.  Both “bother” and “astray” were fairly challenging.  The answer letter layout was the fifth jumble.  Kind of like the fifth Beatle?  It was nicely cryptic and gave nothing away.  The cartoon was great.  I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t a pub named Dominick’s near the University of Michigan.  Or, maybe used to be, say 20 years ago.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Hey, “Anonymous”!  Did you see David Hoyt’s reply?  Send us the name of your newspaper – city too, if its kind of generic – and Mr. Hoyt will look in to it for you.  Changing the order of the clue words, without having the correct corresponding circle boxes, really would screw things up!  Sorry for your troubles.  It sounds like yours wasn’t the only one.   —   YUR
