(The Boxer is a great song though.  Maybe my favorite from when Simon and Garfunkel used to sing together.  A very soulful ballad.  Oh, yeah.  There were no new clue words today, but they were all jumbled expertly.  It took me about a minute to get “canal”, and I’m sure “utmost” threw a few of you.  The answer letter layout was also jumbled well.  The palooka on the canvas is pretty much a stock character, but it looks like Jeff had someone specific in mind for the pint-sized pulverizer.  Maybe Jeff will grace us with a remark.  He’s been busy, but he tries to keep tabs on us.  The trainer reminds me of the late, great Angelo Dundee.  It’s a very amusing cartoon.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I think what motivates people is not great hate, but great love for other people.”   —   Huey Newton

(Tender words, from one of those “scary” Black Panthers.  Sure, there was a militant aspect to the Black Panther Party, but most of that was a refusal to be intimidated by the largely racist police officers they were repeatedly  faced with.  The bigger bugaboo, as far as J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI were concerned, was that they were “socialists”.  People to the right of the political spectrum, to this day, use the word as some kind of epithet, to put “the fear of God” into the hearts of the closed minded.  Repeat any word – with a sneering tone – enough times, and people will associate it as something bad.  Don’t allow yourselves to be propagandized, folks.  Turn a deaf ear to all the inane labeling of those who seek to divide us.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
