June's multi-colored eyes

June’s multi-colored eyes (Photo credit: kakissel)

(She doesn’t look uptight.  And, very often, the women in the Jumble cartoons do look pretty uptight!  Our girl – we’ll call her June – just looks disappointed.  More upset than uptight.  Weight has a sneaky way of creeping up on you.  This whole metabolism thing is completely unfair!

There were no new clue words today, but all of the jumbles looked new, to me.  I think “throat” might have been the toughest, but I didn’t struggle with any of them.  The answer letter layout was nifty.  That’s about it, for now.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul.”   —   Jean Cocteau

(I love dogs because . . . they aren’t cats!  It might be true that cats rule and dogs drool.  But, I’d rather be on equal – if not slippery – footing with a dog, than subject to a cat.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  RUNNING WATER

(Wonderful!  None of the clue words were new, but the jumbling was top-notch.  Surprisingly, the two that made me scratch my head were jumbles that we’ve already had in the past.  The jumbles for “input” and “ninety” have been used before.  Both the “weigh” and “uproar” jumbles are new, from what I can see.  Another stellar answer letter layout.  Nothing obvious.  If you weren’t feeling, you weren’t getting it!  Classic Jumble cartoon, too.  It conveys the both the heat and the gratitude.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(But, of course!  Technically, not really a pun . . . but, it was fun.  There were no new clue words, but all of the jumbling was new, to me.  They were all good, but I only hesitated on “advice”.  The answer letter layout gave nothing away.  I can’t remember seeing one that started with GBS before.  The cartoon was Hanna-Barbera worthy!  A couple more huggers in the background, and an unhappy looking bear in a Cubs hat and jersey, with a drink in his hand.  But, where’s Boo Boo?  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

(Don’t worry, folks.  This was all just part of her stage act.  Cass was talented, but far from glamorous.  Self-deprecation can be a great little ice breaker.  She did end up getting married . . . twice, as a matter of fact.  Looks don’t have to matter.  After all, beauty is only skin deep.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jim Furyk

Jim Furyk (Photo credit: Keith Allison)

(I really thought that Jim Furyk was finally going to get that monkey off his back, at the RBC.  But, I guess it was not to be.  I also did not realize that Tim Clark was only three shots behind coming into the final round.  All I kept hearing was that Furyk was coming in at -15.  You’ve got to hand it to Clark though.  He stayed in the hunt, and then came on strong on the back nine, while Furyk seemed to run out of gas.  I went to school with a kid named Tim Clark.  I guess it’s not that uncommon a name.  Congrats to Clark, and condolences to Furyk.  But, $615,600.00 is one heck of a consolation prize!

There were no new clue words today!  Maybe Hoyt realizes that ralis95 is very busy, with more important pursuits.  Three of the jumbles were new, to me.  Only the one for “crown” was already in my WordPress database.  The answer letter layout was nifty.  Nothing obvious about it, at all.  The cartoon is fantastic.  I love the expression on Fido’s face.   Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Today is Lori Loughlin‘s 50th birthday!  I always thought that besides starring on Full House she was also Zoe Morgan, on Person of Interest.  But, that distinction belongs to Ms. Paige Turco.  I think they have a similar look, and they’re less than a year apart in age.  Both fine looking ladies.  Not as fine as Bridget Moynahan though.  She’s the reigning beauty queen of the small screen, for me!  What was Tom Brady thinking by cheating on her?  Putz!   —   YUR

Broken Home 2

Broken Home 2 (Photo credit: ~flutterby~)

When I can no longer bear to think of the victims of broken homes, I begin to think of the victims of intact ones.”   —   Peter de Vries

(Peter was known mainly for his satiric wit, but he could also drop a bomb of reality on you.  Sometimes, the worst thing is continuing to stay in a bad, or abusive, relationship/household.  Usually the victims feel like they don’t have a choice.  Here is one of my favorite de Vries quotes:  “Confession is good for the soul only in the sense that a tweed coat is good for dandruff  –  it is a palliative rather than a remedy.”  This is the same way I feel about political correctness and banning language  –  it does nothing about addressing the underlying causes.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  An apology:  I have no idea what the related articles say, as WordPress has changed – really messed up – the scroll feature on the Add New Post page.  They made one change about a week or so that was bad enough, but today it is even worse.  You can’t preview the articles, or even the pictures, at all.  Until today, you could at least view them if you used the outer scroll bar and positioned the screen just so.  Why they did away with the scroll bar in the text section of the page I just don’t understand.  It must somehow be cheaper for them!  A number of months ago they took away the more advanced color options that I had used to enjoy.  Things must be tough over at WordPress.  If they are a publicly held company, I’d give serious consideration to selling.   —   YUR
