Visual Description: Prop as “lovely assistant”.
ALOTG = GLOAT, PUNIT = INPUT, HMIRPS = SHRIMP, RETESO = STEREO — Giving us: GLAINTSHIPSTRE
Clue/Question: They called the trick by many names, but Marco thought they were all . . .
Answer: SPLITTING “HARES“
(Ooh! Super, excellent, stinky pun! Lots to love about this one. All of the clue words were old favorites, but three of the jumbles came up as new. We’ve definitely seen “alotg” in the past. It took me a few seconds to come up with “stereo”. The answer letter layout did an extraordinary job of hiding the answer. A superior jumble, whoever came up with it. For the answer I was looking at the cartoon, and the clue/question, for words they weren’t using. I was thinking MAGIC, but no M or C, and the word wouldn’t make sense in quotes anyway. But the quotes finally got me seeing HARES, and then SPLITTING, and the pun became evident. It’s fun because, normally a magician saws a lady in half. Usually his “lovely assistant”. Rabbits are merely props. Something to pull out of a hat. So, to substitute the rabbit for the lady was the ingenious part of this clever cartoon, and great Jumble. Great job, Dave Blazek. My paper does not carry “Loose Parts”, but it looks like a great strip. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Thanks for putting links to the Guest’s sites. I really appreciate it. They are very generous with their time and effort. They may be hesitant when they are asked. But afterwards, they all seem to love the attention they receive their family, fans and friends. Back to the old team, tomorrow.
Hey! A little cross-promotion never hurt anyone. — YUR 😉
Another new comic to me!!! I thought I was going to be stumped on this one, but hung in there! Every word I’d come up with as a possibility had an M in it. I was beginning to think my newspaper had, yet again, messed up my jumbler! BUT, NO, it was me. I just knew we had an ING word in there. I finally came up with HARES, and even came up with SPLITTING, but, I thought I only had one T and it was back to the drawing board until I took a hard look at my remaining letters. That that T was! Wooohooo, got it. So glad I didn’t cave.
Jumble Jeff! Thanks to you and Hoyt for always making it interesting, challenging, and so fun! Your creative minds…OH MY! And to you Unc for the time you spend in bringing us relative, fun facts; links; pictures; wit; and humor.
All you guyz, none of this goes unnoticed and is very much appreciated. LL
Brilliant pun! Loved it. I was a little disappointed with myself at not seeing it sooner, though. The key was to get the word in quotes. I tried to solve the first word instead, and although I guessed it ended in ING, I couldn’t make headway for about three minutes. Finally, I looked at the cartoon and saw the rabbit, and decided to think about words related to rabbits. That led me to HARES, and then SPLITTING followed easily. STEREO gave me a lot of trouble too. It was, and continues to be, in my “toughest words” list.
