BKIRC = BRICK, LIREC = RELIC, GORACU = COUGAR, FAROTM = FORMAT — Giving us: BRIREICOAFRT
Clue/Question: Swinefeld thought he was one Fantastic Comedian, but he was really just a – –
Answer: TERRIFIC “BOAR“
(Wow! The guys better watch out if Rich Powell ever decides to publish a competing Jumble. This guest Jumble was a knockout. No new clue words today. I saw “brick” right away, but I first saw cleric before “relic” hit home. “Cougar” took about two or three seconds to sink in. But, it was “farotm” that had me guessing. And, it even forced me to write out various combinations. And, you know yer uncle is kind of lazy when it comes to that. I tried to back into it, but without the FRT I had no idea what the answer was going to be. I did see BOAR, but without the FRT there was no way I was seeing TERRIFIC. I did a bunch of combos in my head, to no avail. Finally, I wrote out ROMAFT/RAMOFT/MORAFT/MAROFT/FORTAM. FORTAM finally did the trick, for me. Not surprisingly, all of the jumbles came up as new. The answer letter layout made for a great jumble. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of you had trouble getting today’s answer, even if you didn’t have the problem that I had getting “format”. And, the cartoon is really great. Plenty of depth and detail, and very humorous. My paper doesn’t carry Wide Open, but if it’s as good as his Jumble entry I’d welcome seeing it. Great job, Mr. Powell. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
