Answer: ON THE DOUBLE
(A beautiful baseball pun! Very apropos for tonight’s Game Six of the 2016 World Series, between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians. It’s in Cleveland, and the Indians are up 3 games to 2. Both teams, and their fans, are long suffering, though arguably the Cubs have suffered longer. I like both teams, though neither of them are “my team”. In cases like these I usually default to my preference for the National League. So, I’m rooting for the Cubbies, but I won’t be devastated if the Tribe wins.
None of today’s clue words are new, but all of the jumbles came up as new today. For those of you under the age of 40 “holler” is the proper spelling – and pronunciation – of “holla”. The answer letter layout was a fun jumble, that actually had me guessing for half a minute. Sometimes I’m a little slow, folks. The cartoon shows a great sliding double. The only minor issue is that this looks like Wrigley Field. Check out the ivy wall. Games 3 – 5 were in Chicago. But tonight, and hopefully tomorrow night, the games will be played in Cleveland. And, I don’t give a crap who’s payed for “naming rights”, to me it will always be “The Jake”. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
