“You have to get to the point where going for it is more important than winning or losing.” — Arthur Ashe
(You have to absolutely love it. Arthur loved the sport of tennis, and his artistry always showed through. Such a class act. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Arthur Ashe is a cautionary tale on the illusiveness of good health.
As athletic and fit as he was throughout his life, even he fell victim to heart disease. If it can happen to him, who’s safe ?
A cautionary tale, indeed! Not sure of his specific condition, but high blood pressure has long been a leading contributor to bad heart health. Especially, among African-Americans. Cholesterol issues have some varying effect on the heart, but a lot of doctors today like to key in on elevated levels of C-Reactive Proteins (CRP), as a bigger factor in heart and other inflammation problems. I don’t think they were testing for CRP back then.
