Clue/Question: When the baker made a wedding cake for his daughter, he was – – –
Answer: “TIERING“ UP
(Excellent pun! Very clever. There were no new clue words today, however three of the jumbles came up as new. We’ve definitely seen “cudnit” before. The answer letter layout was another great jumble. Whenever there’s a two letter word in the answer, and a U and a P in the answer letter layout, chances are very good that you’re going to see the word UP. Jeff’s great cartoon gave me the TIERING. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“Whenever there’s a two letter word in the answer, and a U and a P in the answer letter layout, chances are very good that you’re going to see the word UP.” – Learned that the hard way today. I knew that the first word had to end in ING, but I thought that the second word was IT. That gave me PUER as the remaining letters. I was stuck for a minute trying to unscramble that to make something sensible. I failed, of course. Finally, I realized that the second word could be UP, and then it all fell into place. Brilliant pun, and a great clue and cartoon. Really enjoyed this one.
