Answer:  DREW ATTENTION

(Oh, yeah.  That’s a groaner.  Even by yer uncle’s standards!  We had no new clue words today, but all of the jumbles are coming up as new, for me.  The answer letter layout made for another great jumble.  There was even a bit of misdirection in the middle of it.  I’m sure some of you thought the first word to the answer might be WENT.  I know I did.  But, then I realized our guys would never make a mistake like that.  The cartoon is very detailed and very amusing.  But, why bring Pastis into this???  Couldn’t the cartoon just as easily have had Hoyt standing behind a kneeling Knurek???  Enquiring minds want to know!  LOL!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  —  Drawing your own money . . . will definitely draw some attention!   —   YUR

  1. Hello, from DC! I put Pastis in there because, for the seventh time, he’s been nominated for the Reuben Award for cartoonist of the year. He’s the Susan Lucci of cartooning. So I was just teasing him a bit. The little boy asking him if he’s won an award is his children’s book character, Timmy Failure. Will find out soon if he wins or not.

  2. I always learn something! I love the insights. I tried really hard to go with WENT. Obviously, to no avail. I brought up your Weblog Unc and asked my husb if WENT was the first word. He said no. So walking away I said, ‘back to the drawing board,” to which he replied, I can’t believe you said that. So I said, the word is DRAW! He said no, so as I sat back down to study the letters, I said DREW…..ding, ding, ding!

Always fun, and usually challenging! Happy Memorial Day weekend!! LL
