Answer: I DON’T KNOW GUYS! I’m drawing a blank.
ATTEMPTING OFFER — Thanks to everyone who wrote in with the answer! Sorry I didn’t lay out the blanks. Wasn’t in the mood. — YUR
(The answer letter layout is beating me today, folks! I’m sorta seeing the first word ending in ING, or maybe OFF. But, I’m not even coming close to an answer. Maybe, you guys can help me out???
We do have three brand new clue words though! “WARMTH”, “OSPREY” and “REMEDY” are all new! I hope ralis95 is reading the blog today. His clue word database is growing by leaps and bounds. And, “osprey” gave me fits. All of the jumbles are new, to me. Great cartoon. You really get the mid-70s feel, with an Evel Knievel character and a Col. Tom Parker type. Too bad I can’t solve it. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

What a riot. I thought it was:
Clue/Question: The daredevil would try to break the world record after getting the – – –
” Temptating offer”
Is Temptating actually a word? ” The thought of taking the day off was temptating.” I think it is, but
it’s rubbing me the wrong way for some reason.
Do you ever use Xxxx’s xxxxxxx solver? Today’s answer was easy to find there.
In re the March 6 Jumble, you don’t give the number of words for the answer nor the length of the words in the answer. However, the letters would form “attempting offer.” I’m guessing that’s the answer.

Attempting Offer is the answer.
The last word in the clue (“the”) was misleading and in my opinion a rare use by the authors of a grammatically incorrect word. The last word in the clue should properly have been “an”. Hence the solution – “An attempting offer”.

Karl Schroeder,
I threw out the paper right after posting the partial spoiler, but I do remember there was something I didn’t like about the Clue/Question! I think you hit the nail on the head. But, a lot of the faithful came up with the answer regardless. So, I guess I shouldn’t use that as an excuse. I’ll just have to take my lumps on this one.

PS. to Daniel Davis. Never heard of it, and wouldn’t do that. Wouldn’t be sporting.
Attempting offer
Really not that hard to get a ttempting offer.
I’m late in responding, but I was able to solve it on Sunday too!! I had offer, and got tempting and was stuck…..until I kept studying the puzzler cartoon. Attempting! YEA! Grand puzzler guyz!!!
And I can see ‘the’ or ‘an’ going either way with attempting. LL
the answer to this one is “attempting offer”
Yes, t-in-g. I never bothered to edit my post, mainly because of the numerous commenters who came up with the answer. One of them even provided a reason why the answer *could have* been a little easier . . . had the clue/question been phrased a little better (more properly).
Thanks for chiming in though! Better late than never, as my Mom always says.
