Visual Description:  Unsettled infant causing wiped out parents.

SERPS  =  PRESS,  SALCH  =  CLASH,  PENTUU  =  TUNEUP,  RXTEPE  =  EXPERT   —   Giving us:  SSLSTEER

Clue/Question:  When the baby wouldn’t sleep, the parents got . . .

Answer:  REST LESS

(Or I suppose it could be LESS REST, but then you lose the play on words.  I’m surprised they didn’t do it as a hyphenated word.  That would have taken a little of the mystery out of it.  The clue words were all jumbled nicely, and here’s a first in the history of the Unclerave Spoilers.  All of today’s clue words are new!  ralis95 can add “clash”, “press”, “expert” and “tuneup” to the clue word  database.  I semi-backed in to “tuneup”.  I suspected it, but I just don’t like committing to those compound words.  The answer letter layout was splendid.  And the drawing conveys the young parents’ exhaustion.  I feel their pain.  Been there, done that.  Mostly glad it’s in my past.  Be well and do good, my friends.)   —   YUR

    > WOW! Four new words to add to the database – all on the same day. I’m checking, but I think that Hoyt has set a new record! But, I must take exception to TUNEUP. No matter that the dictionary and many other sources show it as one word, it is, nevertheless, a two word combination and best used with a “-” between the first and second word. As such, I won’t enter it into the database as a single 6 letter word, but will show it as it should be: TUNE-UP.

I had LESS REST, but computer said no, so I switched it. I love when the guys draw babies with big heads. Anyway, I’ve been Jumbling all week, but too busy to report in as I was preparing for my cruise out of NYC on the Norwegian Gem on Monday. Well, now that’s not happening! So I’m here until they decide what to do since the ship is still at sea as of 5:30 tonight and port of NYC is closed. Oh, we are also predicted to be ground zero for this Frankenstorm. Be safe up there in NY state, too, YUR!

    @ ralis95,

I knew YOU’D be jazzed about four new clue words in one day! It looks like Mr. Hoyt took some liberties with “tuneup”. I usually see it as two words, or hyphenated, as well. Bring on the Halloween Challenge puzzle! Sandy may be keeping me home from work the next few days. Maybe not tomorrow, but definitely Tuesday.

    @ Lesley,

Hopefully Sandy doesn’t delay your cruise for too long, kid! I also hope you’re in a nice safe hotel in NYC, and nowhere near your beloved Jersey Shore!

I went with less rest; at least I had the right words. I had tuneup quickly; however, my handy dandy word speller verifier said it was a hyphenated word. This morning I had my husb check out the puzzle words to see if it was tuneup. Yep, and the puzzle was solved–well kinda.

Oh my word, wanted to say all in the storm’s path have my prayers.
