3 Henry van Dyke Poems - Poem Analysis

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best.”   —   Henry van Dyke

(That is the trap of the perfectionist mentality.  It’s a trap I’ve been ensnared in my entire life.  I love to sing, and there are many that say I have a good singing voice, but I’m reticent to sing in public.  My range is definitely limited, but there are some songs that I do very well on.  I just need a combination of a little more confidence and a healthy WTF attitude.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

  1. “Sing, sing a song
    Make it simple to last
    Your whole life long
    Don’t worry that it’s not
    Good enough for anyone
    Else to hear
    Just sing, sing a song”

The Carpenters had it right, but could have changed one word in this line for you. Don’t worry that (you’re) not good enough.

    I always enjoy your blog.
