Mahatma Gandhi Painting by Ton Peelen | Saatchi Art

In a gentle way, you can shape the world.”   —   Mahatma Gandhi

(In a gentler, more civil and empathetic world, I think this would be more true.  Whereas we had the People Power Revolution – Laban – back in 1986, that toppled Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, ever since then we’ve seen governments all too willing to kill its own people, let alone those that they consider to be *inferior*.  China and Israel are probably the two biggest offenders, but also Malaysia, Myanmar, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Saudi Arabia are some of the others that employ a kind of apartheid/genocide.  And – this is probably going to offend some people – even the United States is on that list, with the way they continue to treat Native Americans, African Americans, and other people of color.  Especially since 9/11/2001, they are all too quick to cite “terrorism” and things like “the right to defend itself”, but those are just platitudes.  Ruses to keep us in check.  It’s all about maintaining power.  And they feel justified to do everything in their power to that end.  I think that Gandhi would be very sad to see where the world is today.  We should insist that all governments act justly to all people.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
