Radio Habana Cuba | India recuerda natalicio de Mahatma Gandhi

It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.”   —   Mahatma Gandhi

(Perhaps the greatest man of peace the world has ever seen!  He had a great influence on our Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.!  I wish he had been taken more seriously when he said about Palestine that “the Jews should disclaim any intention of realizing their aspiration under the protection of arms and should rely wholly on the goodwill of Arabs. No exception can possibly be taken to the natural desire of the Jews to find a home in Palestine. But they must wait for its fulfillment till Arab opinion is ripe for it.”  He saw Zionism for what it was/is; European imperialism that uses violence to achieve its goals.  He knew injustice when he saw it, especially since he spent 21 years in apartheid South Africa, as a young man, fighting for civil rights.  The world could sorely use a man – or woman – like Gandhi today.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

A man is but the product of his thoughts – what he thinks, he becomes.”   —   Mahatma Gandhi

(I don’t know.  I’ve always thought myself quite the stud, but . . .  But, a positive attitude IS pretty key to being what you want to be.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Who can take a sunrise (who can take a sunrise)
Sprinkle it with dew (sprinkle it with dew)
Cover it with beetroot and a miracle or two
The Gandhi Man (the Gandhi Man)
Oh, the Gandhi Man can (the Gandhi Man can)
The Gandhi Man can
‘Cause he mixes it with love
And makes the world taste good (Makes the world taste good)

I believe Mother Teresa took Gandhi’s advice.  Be well and do good, friends.   —   YUR

Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”   —   Mahatma Gandhi

(This is the Indian version of:  One bad apple don’t spoil the whole bunch.  I try not to look at people in terms of “good” and “bad”, but for the sake of argument, it’s pretty safe to say that the bad people make up a very small percentage of humanity.  They just get the lion’s share of the press.  Always have.  Probably always will.  A bunch of someones seem to think we require these cautionary tales.  I’d like to think we could do with a whole lot less, but too many of us need to be smacked over the head from time to time . . . just to stay in line.  Or, at least to be reassured that . . . you and I aren’t so bad.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people.”   —   Mahatma Gandhi

(Unfortunately, I think the pendulum has swung back more towards muscles.  It’s subtler today, though.  Political correctness, public kangaroo courts, and the corporate media telling us what they want us to know and just how to think.  “Conform or be cast out.”  It would likely make poor Gandhi’s head spin.  But, if he were still with us today, he would tell us to fight it . . . by thinking for ourselves.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Live as if you were to die tomorrow.  Learn as if you were to live forever.”   —   Mahatma Gandhi

(Living and learning – going hand in hand – are really a matter of attitude.  You don’t have to engage in risky, or risqué, activities . . . every day . . . in order to “live”.  You just need to appreciate that you are alive.  And, you don’t need to be engaged in some kind of formal continuing education in order to “learn”.  All you need is an open mind, and an open heart, to things you are yet to know.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
