Answer: “SAVE–ORY“ DISH
(A very tasty – and aromatic – Jumble pun! I really enjoyed it, for a few reasons. First, it comes off as an original pun. And second, I just love diners and lunch counters! More times than not I’m going to order some kind of eggs, with either bacon, sausage or corned beef hash. And, it doesn’t matter what time of day it is! Occasionally, I’ll order one of the lunch/dinner specials, because they usually come with either a soup or a salad, coffee and a dessert. And most of them usually have very good coffee! Plus the atmosphere is more laid back and informal, as opposed to more formal restaurants. And, they are not as expensive as the more formal restaurants. What’s not to like?!?!
All of today’s clue words are faithful old friends. Two of the jumbles are coming up as new, but we’ve definitely seen both “seysa” and “rahdo” in previous Jumbles. All the clue words came to me quickly. The answer letter layout was an elusive eleven letter jumble. Wonderfully cryptic. I was able to see the word DISH first. And, from the ESAROVY the pun on SAVORY came to me . . . with a little help from those quotation marks!
Great cartoon of the lunch counter. All three of the customers look like they are regulars. The waitress looks like a Madge, or a Flo, or maybe an Alice or Doris. I liked the chalk board where they post the daily special, and I also liked the order wheel at the kitchen window. Very fun cartoon, for a great Jumble. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
