REVIEW: THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI (2017) – Little Movie Reviews

Answer:  SIGNS OF SUCCESS

(A cute, stinky pun!  The cartoon is a little reminiscent of the old Burma Shave ads, which were big between 1926 and 1963.  More or less before my time!  Their ads were a lot smaller than billboards though.  Maybe a more recent comparison would be that movie from seven years ago, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”.  The movie had a great cast and it won a number of awards.  The wife and I enjoyed it.

All four clue words are on the ralis95 clue word database.  It’s looking like all four jumbles are coming up as new though.  None of them tripped me up any.  The answer letter layout was a formidable fourteen letter jumble.  Wonderfully cryptic, but the clue/question, and the layout of the final answer slots, made for a quick solve for me.

Fun cartoon of the business partners of Pat’s . . . fast food restaurant? . . . convenience store?  I don’t know.  What kind of business do you use a platypus as your  logo/representative?  It’s definitely unique though.  Every half mile might be a bit much for billboards, don’t you think?  LOL!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

  1. I remember as a youngster 🧒 driving to Myrtle Beach with my family a few times during Spring Break week. The closer we got to the South Carolina border, the more “South of the Border” 🇲🇽 billboards 🪧 we’d see. Seemed like every mile we’d see, “Pedro loves every Juan” 150 miles away! My dad 🧑 finally stopped one year to see the hubbub…. What a dump! This was back in the 1980s, so I’m not sure if it’s even still there anymore 🤷🏻‍♂️, but the amount they spent $$$ 💰 on billboards 🪧 must have been enormous! The tacos 🌮 were horrible 🤮 and we all got the revenge 💩. 🌯 Montezuma’s Revenge I suppose.

Speaking of 🤮 the old Mexicans 👉 posted a robust 19x y’day, 11 from their Associate Aztec ⛺️ An%el@ 🙋🏻‍♀️. Seems she’s the only one under 90 that still posts. But you know what they say, age is just a number. A very large one indeed! 🦯

Let’s hope Sleepy Joe 💤 stays out of the Iran war this time. You know what they said, Don’t! Dont! I guess Benny N did. Let’s leave the kids at Columbia 🏫 do the heavy lifting and protest by gluing themselves together. I thought the Ivy League was smart kids? 👧. Times have changed I guess Unc…

    Peace ✌️,

  2. I never made that trip, Smitty, but I’ve definitely seen the bumper stickers extolling/advertising “South of the Border” over the years. Can’t say I’ve seen them recently though. By the way, “BORDER” and “BOARDER” is another example of English homophones that people – probably myself included – confuse/misspell. English is a bee-otch! Sorry to hear it was such a letdown, and you all got the trots.

I also hope we stay out of Iran. I’m tired of our Middle East policy being dictated by Israel’s wants and actions. It’s been going on for far too long. Bibi is a lot like Putin and Hitler, and I resent his not respecting our wishes. I greatly respect the protestors at Columbia, and all around the world. They realize that we have been lied to for 75 years, and they see – and object to – the injustice of the occupation of Palestine, and the inhumane treatment of the Palestinian people, not just now, but over the decades. It’s ironic that the U.S. supports the occupied Ukraine over the occupying Russians, but we support the occupying “Israelis” over the occupied Palestinians.

What we’re seeing at Columbia is very Déja Vu to the student protests against the war in Vietnam back in the late 1960s. Knee-jerk conservatives called them every name in the book, but history shows that their actions wakened the sleepy masses, and resulted in widespread objection to our involvement in Southeast Asia. As a country that gained independence from colonialism it’s ironic that we continued in colonialism in Vietnam for as long as we did, and that we continue to support colonialism in Palestine. As one of the protestors at Columbia pointed out, to a reporter, they do not have anything against Jewish people. What they are protesting is the actions of the Israeli government – and of its military – against the Palestinian people . . . the rightful inhabitants of Palestine.

People are waking up to the unjust truth of occupied Palestine, Smitty. Don’t be one of those folks who repeatedly hit the snooze button!

    Peace.
