Answer:  A WAS SILENT

(Ah, yes.  The strong, silent type.  Very often, when one vowel follows another, that second one is just there to accentuate the first one.  When it’s just the one vowel it’s harder to tell whether it is supposed to be pronounced as the shorter/softer sound, or the longer/harder sound.  This seems like an original Jumble pun.

All four clue words are on the ralis95 clue word database.  Three of the jumbles are coming up as new.  But we’ve definitely had “nusaa” in previous Jumbles.  None of the jumbles stumped me any.  The answer letter layout was a taciturn ten letter jumble.  Very decently cryptic.  But the great cartoon, the lead up of the clue/question, and the quotation marks around the single letter in the final answer slots, made for a quick solve.

Fun cartoon of the letters coming right off of the page.  Only the unspeaking  letter “A” seems to be holding back.  He’ll get his revenge though, when the “E” has to take a backseat when they spell GREAT!  Fun little Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
