Answer:  CONCERTED EFFORT

(Very often it takes a communal effort, to pull off a social event.  Some folks on the right immediately take offense to anything that might lead to – or even hint at – communism, or even socialism, because they’ve become indoctrinated to believe that only pure capitalism is virtuous, and anything that hints of the other two is pure “evil”.  Of course that is pure poppycock, but when an ideology is drummed into some people there is just no reasoning with them.  And that is essentially where we are today with the left-right paradigm.

All six clue words are on the world famous ralis95 clue word database.  But Mr. Hoyt has seen fit to give us all new jumbles today.  None of them could stump me though.  The answer letter layout was a fantastic fifteen letter jumble.  Sufficiently cryptic.  But the cartoon’s dialog, and everything else, made for a very quick solve.  I didn’t need to rewrite the vowels, then the consonants, in alphabetical order today.

Fun cartoon of the community orchestra.  I don’t recognize the conductor, but it looks like our friend, Jeff Knurek, on the clarinet.  And, a rare appearance of Will Shortz on the timpani.  My son was always the major percussionist in band/orchestra, and my daughter played clarinet in band.  A fun Sunday Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Images courtesy of Google.  I’d LOVE to reduce them, to conserve on bandwidth, but WordPress is only allowing to set the placement, and NOT allowing for resizing.  Strange, because the little corner boxes that SHOULD allow for reduction/expansion are still there.  They just don’t work.  HOPEFULLY, this is just a temporary glitch, caused by some kind of “upgrade” to their system.  Otherwise, this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

  1. I’ve never been a big fan of Communism Unc. Those Communists can be very mean to some folks. When I think of Communism, I think of Hitler 😢, Russia 🇷🇺, China 🇨🇳 , Fidel Castro 🇨🇺,North Korea 🇰🇵 and not thinking of all the of good ones around the world 🌎! I think we should remember all the positive things that those folks have done for humanity!

Speaking of Communists, the radicals over there 👉 commented 13x y’day, 7 from their Loon Un 🙋🏻‍♀️. 🫡. Hey it’s not a bad thing if everyone is on board, right? They love it there 🤥!

The US 🇺🇸 women’s soccer team was beaten by Sweden yesterday in penalty kicks 🦵. The only penalty, in my opinion, was watching that game ⚽️! What an awful match that was. No goals! The US deserved to lose. They really weren’t very good. That Rapinoe character needs to retire. SHE blew the game y missing her turn in PKs ⚽️ 😿 . No excuses. They will be better next time, four years from now.

Have a great day everyone, and have a drink 🥃 on me!

  2. C’mon, Smitty! Hitler wasn’t a Communist. He hated “commies”. He was a Fascist. Like Mussolini. Fascism is a far-right nationalism that favors an authoritarian government, and doesn’t tolerate opposition, to the point of suppressing it. It’s the antithesis of democracy.

Communism is more of an intellectual theoretical idealism, that envisions everyone being equal, and working for the overall benefit of the state/society. Even though some countries consider themselves “communist” it has never been employed as envisioned by Karl Marx. People, being people, can almost never get on the same page when it comes to the ideal of a communist society. Some people invariably want MORE than being equal, which of course leads to corruption and authoritarianism. This is what we see in Russia, China and North Korea. Less so in Cuba, but the U.S. has demonized them since they kicked out Batista, who was corrupt but very friendly to the U.S.. Communism has worked on some small scale cases, with kibbutzes in Israel, but that is because everyone was like-minded and onboard. It will probably never work as envisioned, because people are so caught up in “tradition”, and folks always tend to want more than the next guy. Most people have never taken the time to understand the concepts of communism. Popular media and our governments always paint it as a matter of us versus them. Hey, you can’t be the “good guy” unless the other is the “bad guy”!

You do know that you buddy, Dumb Donny, and his MAGA supporters, are widely viewed as a fascists, right? Did you see him blaming Joe Biden for the USWNT’s loss? LOL! Have a nice day, Smitty.

  3. You can blame Biden for a very large portion of the mess we are in as a country, but you can’t blame him for that loss ⚽️. No, I didn’t know that Trump 🍊 said that. Biden had nothing to do with that embarrassment of a performance! I’ve watched plenty of sporting events in my day, and that was pitifully bad! I love to root for the USA 🇺🇸 and particularly the Olympics. That women’s team was tough to root for. One of the women, I think the goalie 🧤 ⚽️ , said they lost the World Cup by a millimeter 📏. THEY LOST IN THE ROUND OF 16! They had to win 4 more games! They weren’t even close to winning the World Cup!!!

Loves all women, except that God awful mess of a squad,

  4. YOU, and the vast majority of MAGA wing-nuts DO blame Biden for just about every (mis)perceived “mess” we are supposedly in, never taking into account what he inherited from the prior administration, and the myriad of problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Illegal immigration has actually fallen under Biden’s policies. Unemployment is at its lowest that anyone can remember. Inflation has finally stabilized. And the stock market is booming again.

Are things perfect? Are they ever? Gas prices are up again, but that’s due to Saudi Arabia cutting back on production, the brutal weather affecting refinement, and the petroleum fat-cats doing their annual Summer gouging. But on the other hand I can’t complain too much because a few of my funds holdings include Chevron and Exxon-Mobil, which pay fantastic dividends and show ridiculous earnings. The country survived the embarrassment of Trump, and it will survive whatever it is you think Biden is responsible for.

As far as the USWNT, I didn’t watch the games, just some of the highlights. I don’t get up at 4:30 – 5:00 AM for anything these days. But, from what I’ve read of the game against Sweden, our women played the best game of the 3 that they played. They dominated in key metrics, but just could not get it past Sweden’s goalie, who apparently played lights out! Lots of excuses to go around, starting with the coaching, and it seems that it’s time for the older lionesses to step aside, and let the young guns do what they’re going to do. Hey, the sport has really grown, and the world has caught up to what we always thought we were. And look at it this way, they’re still more competitive than the USMNT!
