A Look Back at the Stratford Inn from the TV Sitcom "Newhart" - Hooked on Houses

Answer:  INN FOR THE NIGHT

(I think our pal, Jeff, has a little Peter Scolari in him!  And KK-K could have a combination of Mary Frann and Julia Duffy in her, I guess.  “Newhart” was such an excellent show!  Great casting and good writing.  Another great fish out of water type scenario.  A smarter, more sophisticated version of “Green Acres”.  And, it had THE best ending of any show that I can think of!

All four clue words are on the World Famous ralis95 clue word database!  Three of the jumbles came up as new, for me.  But we’ve definitely seen “innoo” in an earlier Jumble.  The only one to give me pause was “urten”/”tuner”.  Hard to say why.  The answer letter layout was an elusive eleven letter jumble.  Nicely cryptic.  I think that “small lodging business” tried just a little too hard, and ended up making the final answer pretty simple.

Great recreation of The Stratford Inn’s front desk!  From the room key/mail slots, to the lucky horse shoe on the wall.  And good ol’ Bob, checking them in, in his classic cardigan sweater.  I love it when Jeff recreates famous TV shows and movies.  Fun Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

  1. I would have missed all of that nuance Unc, if not for you! Grand Jumble! And, loved that show. And you are right….that ending was the BEST EVER for a TV show!!!

I was wondering if TUNER wasn’t new…guess not! And, seems like we just had ONION!

Hope you are continuing to heal up! LL

  2. I was never a big Newhart guy Unc. Not sure why, it was right in my wheelhouse in the sitcom genre of the 80s. Something else must have been on in that time slot that my parents liked better. Back then we were a one television 📺 family and we all watched together. My father was in charge of what the family watched and the kids and mom didn’t really have a say in what was on the old boob 🍈🍈 tube. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Things have certainly changed since the old days!

Speaking of old, the geriatric gang over there 👉 posted 16x y’day, half from their bygone buffoon 🙋🏻‍♀️. An*el@ probably remembers the Bob Newhart Show from the 1960s! I think Bob was a psychiatrist 👨‍⚕️ . The kids used to play a drinking 🍺 game called “Bob” , where you’d have to chug your beer 🍻 every time someone said “Bob” during the broadcast. I bet those folks would be bombed 💣 by 9:00 🕘! Bob! BOB! I think the wife was the biggest offender….Bob!

The owner of the Colts 🏈 , Jim Irsay, is paying $20 million to relocate a whale 🐳 named Lolita from Miami to Seattle. Maybe he should spend a little more money on his football team because they STINK 💨. Maybe Lolita 🐳 can play right tackle? That Irsay is a weird character anyway, man.. hippie druggie from way back man! 🚬 💨

    Peace ✌️,

    — Smitty

  3. Glad I could be of assistance, LL. TUNER hit me as new too, because I don’t remember seeing it before. I got the same feeling with MINION today, but both are on the ralis95 database! I stopped taking the Percocets, because they were too constipating. The pain IS a little worse, but I would’ve run out of them today anyway. I just have to let nature take its course, I guess.

  4. Hard to say, Smitty. Maybe he preferred movies, or police procedurals? I couldn’t even tell you what nights “Newhart” was on. That was a long time ago.

I hadn’t heard about Irsay and the whale. Good for him though! I think the Jets won last night. That will make my friend Ira happy. Are your Sox ready to take it to the Spanks again? I’m so surprised about those Os! They seem to be getting it done!
