Risks & Disadvantages of Poker (Addiction, Losses, and More) - Gamesver

Answer:  HIS BEST BET

(And, playing with professionals is never a SMART BET.  Keeping things friendly, and sticking to penny ante, is usually more of a SURE BET.  But too many folks think that they know how to play the game, when it ends up the game plays them.  Simply abstaining from gambling is always a SAFE BET.  But most of us have at least one vice, or another.  Smoking tobacco, gambling, using drugs – including alcohol, compulsive eating, shopping, binging on television shows, using your cellphone constantly, compulsive sex, and even praying all the time, are all forms of obsessive behavior that can become outright addictions.  And, they all have consequences.  Some more dire than others.  So, pick yer poison, folks!  Or, you can make a conscious effort to do all things in moderation.  And, hope that you don’t have an addictive personality.

All tried and true Jumble clue words today!  But, surprisingly, all four jumbles are coming up as new today.  No real stumpers though.  The answer letter layout was a testy ten letter jumble.  Not terribly obvious, but also not super cryptic.  The great cartoon and the clue/question set up the final answer very nicely.

Fun cartoon of Jeff Knurek playing – and NOT winning – with the big boys.  Some of these competitive poker players are even celebrities.  The guy to Jeff’s left looks like David Duchovny.  He always has kind of a poker face anyway.  I guess it pays to have a limited range of emotions!  Not sure who the bearded gent is, but there always seems to be a guy with a big ol’ cowboy hat at these big games.  It’s like wearing dark sunglasses.  They can’t see your eyes.  Maybe Jeff should try both dark sunglasses AND a cowboy hat!  LOL!  Fun Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

  1. We used to play some kind of card game most Saturday nights. Poker usually. The most fussing and fighting happened when we brought out the UNO cards. Growing up we were always playing cards…31 and Oklahoma (similar to a rummy game) usually..with my parents, aunts, grands, and cousins. Big ole table full of people. Grand memory. LL

  2. I get frustrated with UNO. I’m a very deliberate kind of person, so when I’m just about to – rightfully – win the game, someone will cry out UNO before I do, and it just pisses me off. LOL! — YUR

  3. I hear ya Unc! In my family there are instigators. Someone will start by saying … we need to get LL, she only has 2 cards left.. or whatever! Then it is all out war to get that person! IMHO, the Uno card game is not friendly! 🙂 LL

  4. I agree, LindaLee. It’s kinda similar to that old board game SORRY, where you can send people back to the beginning, while trying to advance yourself home. Very cut-throat. The person who is about to win should be required to call out UNO, as they’re throwing that final card, but there shouldn’t be some silly race to say it before the person with the last card. To me, that’s ridiculous. Other than that it’s a fun game. — YUR
