GNATE = AGENT, FIUNT = UNFIT, YSPBSA = BYPASS, PYFIYT = TYPIFY — Giving us: ETUPSTPI

Answer: STEP IT UP
(Another day of topnotch scrambling, by Mr. Hoyt! It’s rare that I have to give the first clue word more than a passing fancy, but today I did. I tend to look for words with vowels in the the second and fourth position, when it’s a five letter word with two vowels. I’m sure we’ve had “agent” before, just not with this configuration. I hesitated with “unfit”, and saved it for last, because – as many of you know – I’ve got a little problem with negative adjectives. “Bypass” is a compound word, another pet peeve, but I’m cool with it here. It’s not like teacup, or anything. And, “typify” is great because; how many six letter words have two Ys? The usual great cartoon from Mr. Knurek. Again, the actual answer was almost anti-climactic, but the answer letter layout gave nothing away. Have a great weekend, guys! Be well and do good.) — YUR
