(I zipped through the clue words.  Well, “piracy” tripped me up for a few seconds.  But, when I tried to get the answer I went blank.  I tried ralis’ way, but it didn’t help.  After ruling out sole, heel, ball and toe I finally thought of “arch”, and then I kind of bopped myself on the forehead and said: Duh!
