Visual Description: Updated American Gothic on the block.
LIDLR = DRILL, VABEO = ABOVE, DREEMY = REMEDY, GORNDA = DRAGON — Giving us: DIBEEDDRN
Clue/Question: Prices at the auction were going up and up. This would go on until the – – –
Answer: “BIDDER“ END
(Okay. This was better than bedder, but this pun was still a bitter pill to swallow. Stinky, but in a good way. At first I thought the second word was going to be BID, but I couldn’t seem to make anything out of DEEDRN, and then BIDDER came into focus.
We actually have a new clue word today in “remedy”. I was a little surprised to find this out, as I got it pretty quickly. I guess our friend, ralis95, will have to add this to his world famous clue word database! I struggled more to get “dragon”, maybe because it, and the other three jumbles, came up as new. The answer letter layout was a diabolical jumble! It hid the answer very well.
Lots to like in today’s cartoon. The whole art auction set up. The subtle, if perhaps unintentional, send up to “Gilligan’s Island”, by mentioning Tina Louise. And, of course, the painting up for bid. It looks like a reworking of Grant Wood’s “American Gothic”, except it’s our two guys, Jeff and David, instead of a woman and man. And, instead of a pitchfork, it looks like David is holding a driver. And, instead of a farmhouse, it looks like it might be a golf course. Guys! I know you two are close, but do Kathy and Claire have anything to worry about??? Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but the girls deserve to know the truth. LOL! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
