Visual Description: The un-chicken chicken.
FLEAB = FABLE, RLTUB = BLURT, UPNATE = PEANUT, CLPEAA = PALACE — Giving us: FBLLUPENPAA
Clue/Question: The bird that didn’t fly away in the face of danger was – – –
Answer: UNFLAPPABLE
(Chickens can fly, in short spurts, when they have to. But an adult chicken can handle a house/barn cat all by themself. No need to expend that flying energy. And, what does yer uncle know about chickens? Well, the hens lay eggs. I like eggs! And, most of them are very tasty when you cook them. Before factory farms chickens were fairly expensive. Beef was cheaper. That’s why Herbert Hoover promised Americans “a chicken in every pot.”
We’ve seen all of today’s clue words before. However, all of the jumbles have come up as new, for me. At first, for “upnate” I wrote down untape! I just figured it was another one of those cheap, dumb “UN” words. But it left me with UNA instead of PEN. Since I was already seeing the final answer as UNFLAPPABLE I knew something was off. So, at a second look, I saw my favorite legume! The answer letter layout was an elusive eleven letter jumble. Not really. I just like alliteration. But it was decently cryptic.
Fun cartoon of the birdies and the kitty. I’m not 100% sure that the tough guy is a chicken, but that seemed to make the most sense to me. Cute Jumble. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
