Clue/Question: The Frisbees that were on sale for five for $10 were – – –
Answer: “DISC–COUNTED“
(Extremely! That store must have been going out of business. Folks in the Northeastern United States might be surprised to see that the Modell’s Sporting Goods stores all closed down. But apparently they now have an online only presence. For me, the world is going more than a little kooky. Even a lot of the restaurant chains have closed shop by me. We used to have an Outback Steakhouse . . . gone. An Applebee’s . . . gone. And an Olive Garden . . . all gone! Granted, they weren’t haute cuisine or anything, but they were dependable and affordable. I guess some of it might have been the pandemic, but I think that it’s more than that. Wherever you go, you see more and more retail places closing/closed. It’s sad.
I just got an updated version of the ralis95 clue word database! The boss-man kindly sent it to me, after I informed him of HUMBLY. None of today’s clue words are new. Two of the jumbles appear to be though, but we have seen both “dneuu” and “lcaslu” in earlier Jumbles. The answer letter layout was an elegant eleven letter jumble. I thought it was remarkably cryptic. The quotation marks and hyphen, along with knowing that knockoff Frisbees are usually called “flying discs”, were what made the answer fairly apparent to me.
Fine cartoon of a couple, stocking up at the sporting goods department of some store. I guess their kids are in for a treat. I hope they don’t have to call McKayla Maroney! They do have a habit of floating up to roofs! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
