Visual Description: Distracted track meet entrant.
RMYAR = MARRY, OEMMD = MODEM, TEELST = SETTLE, SHALIV = LAVISH — Giving us: MOETELIS
Clue/Question: Stopping to look for his missing watch caused the runner to . . .
Answer: LOSE TIME
(Not bad! I kind of got lazy and backed into “modem”. It’s common enough, nowadays, but it’s still a pretty specific type of word. Outside of internet connections, I don’t think I’ve ever heard the word used before. The jumbling of “settle” made me think some, and I saw “lavish” right away, but it’s such a great word. Right? It’s right up there with sumptuous and decadent! Answer letter layout was great, but the answer itself was pretty obvious. Good way to ease into the week. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
