Jumble Solved – 01/16/23

Clue/Question:  The tennis players had arrived at the court and were – – –

Answer:  SET TO PLAY

(Because they could play a set, but not a whole match.  Fun stinky pun.  Besides being pressed for time, the ladies look like they’re kinda tired.  Maybe they’ll just rally for a while.

We’ve seen all of these clue words before.  Two of the jumbles are coming up as new, but we’ve definitely seen both “saibs” and “folyt” some time in the past.  They all came to me quickly.  The answer letter layout was a nifty nine letter jumble.  Nothing obvious about it.

Workmanlike cartoon of the women at the tennis club.  It didn’t have to be flashy, it just had to convey the sport of tennis.  And it did that.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
