Clue/Question: Ron Howard directed Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah in a movie that – – –
Answer: MADE A SPLASH
(And, pretty much ever since the world has been Tom’s oyster! He’s my generation’s Jimmy Stewart. He’s America’s every man. Pleasant looking, without being strikingly handsome. But he has played a few romantic leads. For me, his most memorable roles were in “Big”, “Philadelphia”, “Forrest Gump”, and “Saving Private Ryan”. But he’s been in a slew of other great movies. And of course, as the voice of Woody in the “Toy Story” animated series. But I’ll always remember him as Kip Wilson, in “Bosom Buddies”, a show that hearkens back to Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, in “Some Like It Hot”. Although Kip and Henry weren’t running from gangsters. It’s such a shame that Peter Scolari is no longer with us.
We’ve seen all of today’s clue words a number of times. However, all of the jumbles are coming up as new, for me. No real stumpers though. The answer letter layout was a tidy ten letter jumble. Excellently cryptic. As someone who used to be good with entertainment trivia I immediately recognized the movie.
Great cartoon of Howard, Hanks and Hannah. The three H’s??? I guess back in 1984 Opie Taylor/Richie Cunningham still had hair! Super Hanks and Hannah! I like the Oscar statues in the background. I didn’t remember “Splash” being nominated for an Oscar. Well, it was 38 years ago! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
