True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us.”   —   Socrates

(I guess that makes me fairly wise then!  There is always so much more to learn.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear.”   —   Socrates

(Oh teacher, my teacher!  Kind of a faking it til you’re making it thing.  If you want to be a leader, start acting like one.  If you just want to be a good person, act like a good person.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing.”   —   Socrates

(Kind of paraphrased, but I’ve always loved this quote!  I always try to ignore the author, when solving these puzzles, as much as possible.  But, when it’s a one word/name author, like today’s, I always think ancient Greek . . . and then Roman.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The greatest way to live with honor in this world is to be what we pretend to be.”   —   Socrates

(This goes along nicely with my motto:  Fakin’ it till I’m makin’ it!  I think today there is an over-emphasis on higher degrees and certification.  It’s really a bit of a racket, designed to milk people of their money.  It’s also a way – excuse, really – to keep a lot of older workers out of good positions, or to lay them off.  I’ve met too many “geniuses” with Masters degrees, and even some with Doctorates, who are either dumb as a post, or excruciatingly one-dimensional.  Give me a well-rounded, regular Joe any day.  Sure, there are a number of jobs where you need a higher degree of speciality, but things have definitely gotten out of hand.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

All men’s souls are immortal, but the souls of the righteous are immortal and divine.”   —   Socrates

(I’m sure there’s some Bible passage that plays off of this quote.  Any Bible scholars out there know what I’m talking about.  Be well and do good, friends.  Maybe someday you’ll achieve divinity!)   —   YUR
