(I’d be surprised if many of you – who don’t get the Sunday newspaper – got the answer by doing it here. It took me a few minutes, even while looking at Jeff’s great cartoon. Because of the word HAD in the clue/question, I thought one of the words might end in ED. But, everything that I was considering required a T or a G, which just weren’t there. I almost went on to working on the Cryptoquote, because the answer wasn’t jumping out at me. Somehow, the pun just came to me, as though the voice of God was speaking to me! Seriously. If I had to diligently write out various combinations of letters to solve these things, which I have reluctantly done on occasion, I don’t think I could do all of this. I am the Idiom Savant! No new clue words today, but five of the jumbles came up as new. We’ve definitely seen “sauyen” before. Today’s answer letter layout was a masterpiece! Nothing about it hinted at the answer. The cartoon was great. Maybe the excess of the owner’s tricked out vehicle clued me into the answer. But, I don’t consider anything in the cartoon to be a bonus clue. This kind of ties in with today’s Hi and Lois strip. We really are too much of a consume and dispose society. I sure hope the Earth Day message is still fresh in everyone’s memories.
