Visual Description: Maybe at the National Gallery of Art?
GRAWE = WAGER, SEHAC = CHESS, TRYMOS = STORMY, COYNTO = TYCOON — Giving us: WGEESSSORTYO
Clue/Question: Betsy Ross is credited with making the first American flag, – – –
Answer: “SEW“ THE STORY GOES
(Ooh! This is a great stinky pun! Historians seem to think the story is bunk, but she did sew other flags, both during and after the American Revolutionary War. But, true or not, she was a big help with the war effort. And, she made it to the ripe old age of 84!
No new clue words today. Three of the jumbles seem to be new, but we’ve definitely seen “grawe” sometime before today. Whenever I see a jumble for “tycoon” my mind goes to cottony . . . until I realize I’m missing a T . . . and that would be seven letters instead of six. The answer letter layout was a beautifully cryptic twelve letter jumble. The quotation marks – as usual – made getting the answer pretty easy.
Nice cartoon of a family visiting a museum. Probably either the National Gallery of Art, or The Smithsonian. I went to both those places when I was in high school, but that was quite a while ago. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
