Clue/Question:  America’s westward expansion in the 1800s took place – – –

Answer:  IN STAGES

(And in buckboards, and Conestoga – and other covered – wagons.  And, later in trains too.  The stage coach was like an early bus, or taxi . . . accept without a meter.  And, for the kid – or two – who might read this, sort of like a pre-cellphone Uber.

All of today’s clue words are legacy clue words.  However, all of their jumbles appear to be new.  For some reason, “glonla” was the toughest, for me.  But, it didn’t take me long.  The answer letter layout was a nicely cryptic eight letter jumble.  It did a fine job hiding the answer.  The cartoon’s dialog, and central visual were the major clues.

Great Western themed cartoon.  I can’t imagine that those stage coaches had a very smooth ride.  Must’ve been pretty dusty too.  They couldn’t go everywhere, of course, but trains were really the way to go.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
