People ask me what I do in Winter when there’s no baseball.  I’ll tell you what I do.  I stare out the window and wait for Spring.”   —   Rogers Hornsby

(This one has a very familiar ring to it.  Maybe they’ve used it before in the Cryptoquote?  WordPress does a pretty good job of linking similar posts, so I guess I’ll find out for sure after I post this.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Rogers Hornsby in 1928

I don’t want to play golf.  When I hit a ball, I want someone else to go chase it.”   — Rogers Hornsby

(The numbers this guy put up were simply remarkable!  Especially, when you consider such factors as; his first 5 years were under the old “dead ball era“, they also played 8 fewer games in his playing years – 154 then to 162 now – and in 1918 and 1919 they played shortened 140 game seasons due to WWI, plus he had a number of years – 12, or so – as a player/manger.  Wearing two hats might come naturally to some, but there’s a reason why you don’t often hear of guys doing both, especially for 12 years!)   — YUR
