Jumble Spoiler(?) – 03/22/19

Visual Description:  A band of merry men!

LEFTE  =  FLEET,  OWNOS  =  SWOON,  DTARSN  =  STRAND,  CLIEPV  =  PELVIC   —   Giving us:  FEESONSTRAELV

Clue/Question:  To rob from the rich and give to the poor, Robin Hood needed – – –

Answer:  (6-letters)  (2-letters)  “(5-letters)”

Take Two!  Answer:  NERVES OF “STEAL”

(I’m not seeing it this morning!  So, I’m putting it out there for you guys to tell me.  Clearly, the punny aspect lies in the third word, the one in quotation marks, but that is not enough for me this morning.

No new clue words, and only two of the jumbles are coming up as new.  We’ve seen both “lefte” and “ownos” some time before.  Great answer letter layout.  It sure ain’t obvious to me!

Great cartoon of Robin, Little John, Friar Tuck, someone else . . . maybe Alan-A-Dale or Will Scarlet, and perhaps Maid Marian.  They’re in Sherwood Forest, no doubt.  I was thinking the first answer word might be FOREST, but I can’t seem to come up with the pun.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Thanks to all of the readers who wrote in with the correct answer, starting with an “Anonymous” at 9:44 AM.  I don’t know if I COULD have come up with this answer, as easily as many of you guys seemed to!  I had not been trying, since I originally posted this, so I don’t know IF I would have gotten it, if I had kept at it.  I definitely see, and get, the pun . . . now, but my mind relies very heavily on visual clues.  In my mind, the answer HAD TO have SOMETHING to do with the story of Robin Hood, the detailed plans Robin is pointing to, or something to do with the woods or the far off castle.  I clearly did not pick up on the tone of Robin’s monologue.  And, I wasn’t looking for an alternative to “rob” because that’s already the way the line went/goes!  It doesn’t happen all that often, but today the guys got me!   —   YUR

PS.  Super cartoon!   —   YUR
