Clue/Question: When the King kept changing his mind on the Wizard’s spells, it became – – –
Answer: A ROYAL PAIN
(A classic stinky pun, from a classic comic strip! I grew up reading “The Wizard of Id”, as well as “B.C.” also – originally – by Johhny Hart, but now also drawn/written by Mason Mastroianni. Neither are carried in my local paper, but because it is a Gannett newspaper I can see them via my newspaper’s online edition. Reading them is almost like going home again!
All classic clue words today. But surprisingly, all of today’s jumbles are coming up as new for me! None of them were all that tough though. The answer letter layout was a taut ten letter jumble. I don’t think it gave anything away. The combination of the cartoon’s visual, the leading nature of the clue/question, and the layout of the final answer slots made for a quick solve for me.
Great cartoon of the worn out Wiz, sitting in his favorite chair, with Blanch – his wife – bringing him a cup of tea . . . or something. I never knew the name of the spirit of the vat, but he’s a prominent character. I’m so glad that Mason Mastroianni is carrying on his grandfather’s legacy. I hate it when an old favorite comic strip dies off. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
