“Good resolutions are simply checks that men draw on a bank where they have no account.” — Oscar Wilde

“A little sincerity is a dangerous thing and a great deal of it is absolutely fatal.” — Oscar Wilde
(He was probably the most unpretentious person of his day and age. The “higher morals” of the Victorian Era didn’t exactly jibe with his lifestyle. But, by some of today’s . . . standards? . . . he might even be considered . . . boring. The times they are ever a changin’, kiddies! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“As soon as people are old enough to know better, they don’t know anything at all.” — Oscar Wilde
(Nah! We just feel like we don’t know anything. New stuff makes us feel like we don’t know anything. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“I like talking to a brick wall – it’s the only thing in the world that never contradicts me.” — Oscar Wilde
(I don’t know. I’ve also had pretty good luck with hat racks, and light poles. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“The value of an idea has nothing to do with the sincerity of the man who expresses it.” — Oscar Wilde
(A good idea is a good idea, or a bad idea is a bad idea, no matter who expresses it. People need to get past their biases. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“He has one of those terrible weak natures that are not susceptible to influence.” — Oscar Wilde
(Always the prankster and jokester! We could use more of his irreverent, wiseguy wit! Did not receive the Living section in Sunday’s paper! Printed out the puzzles from their online version Sunday night. Thanks for your patience. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“An idea that is not dangerous is unworthy of being called an idea at all.” — Oscar Wilde
(Well, an original “idea” should question conventional wisdom. I guess that qualifies as “dangerous”. I love his rebellious nature, but I find it hard to warm up to the man. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
“If one tells the truth, one is sure, sooner or later, to be found out.” — Oscar Wilde
(That pesky truth can be highly overrated! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Joyous Kwanzaa, dear readers! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
“I don’t at all like knowing what people say of me behind my back. It makes one far too conceited.” — Oscar Wilde
(Always the witty one! It’s remarkable how he could live so out there, in that day and age. Like him, or not, you have to give him a lot of credit. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“There is only one thing worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.” — Oscar Wilde
(Nobody wants to feel like they’ve been forgotten, so it’s kind of reassuring when you hear that people are talking about you. The only thing I don’t like is the old wives tale that says when you bite your lip while eating: Someone’s talking about you! Please! Stop talking about me while I’m eating! Because, once you bite your lip it swells, and then you’re more likely to re-bite your lip, making it even worse! Yeah. I bite my lip a lot while eating. So, Please. Refrain from talking about yer ol’ uncle during meal times. Keep in mind that I reside in Eastern Standard Time, and kind of use your best judgement. Outside of those times . . . jabber away about me. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
