Jumble Spoiler – 12/22/18

Visual Description:  Rank has its privileges.

OOFGR  =  FORGO,  LSLAT  =  STALL,  ROCNUC  =  CONCUR,  CELHKE  =  HECKLE   —   Giving us:  OGOSTACNRHEE

Clue/Question:  The young detective led the investigation until a senior detective – – –

Answer:  GOT ON HER CASE

(Ooh!  I like this one.  It reminds me of numerous episodes of “Blue Bloods”, and countless other police procedurals.  The younger detectives catch a case, do a good amount of the work, only to have some senior detective swoop in and grab all the glory.  Or, maybe bungle the case.  Or, maybe even tank/bury it on purpose, for political – or some nefarious – reasons.  I think the amount of cases a detective closes probably affects their raises and promotions too.

Once again, all of today’s clue words are currently on the world famous ralis95 clue word database.  However, all of the jumbles appear to be new.  Once again I hedged on “forgo”.  I always want to spell it “forego”, which is actually acceptable, but less common.  I also considered “gofor”.  I know it’s actually “gofer” and it’s more of a slang word, that only came about in the later 20th Century.  So, I semi-backed into it.

Fine crime scene cartoon.  I like how the police have their id/badges on lanyards hanging from their necks.  The crime scene tape, the evidence bags, and the little markers showing where everything was found all make the cartoon work.  I like how the clueless senior detective is stepping on evidence.  That’s adding insult to injury.  Great Jumble, huh guys?!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
