Clue/Question: When asked if his new dictionary could be purchased, Noah Webster said – – –
Answer: “BUY“ ALL MEANS
(Authors generally don’t just write for the sake of writing. Everybody’s got to make a buck. But, Noah Webster wasn’t just your average writer. He was known as the “Father of American Scholarship and Education”. He replaced the school books from England with brand new American books, which he wrote. He might be the main reason why we write color, instead of colour. And, neighbor, instead of neighbour, etc. And, he changed a bunch of the words that the English spell with an re to an er.
No new clue words today. Three of the jumbles appear to be new, but we have definitely seen “peseyl” in the past. Of course I misspelled “gauge”! I always put the U first! The answer letter layout was a swell eleven letter jumble. It did a fine job of disguising the final answer. The quotation marks were, once again, a big clue.
Another great historical piece cartoon from Mr. Jeff Knurek. Fine likeness of a young Noah Webster. Happy Kwanzaa to all who celebrate it! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
