Answer:  LAND HIMSELF A JOB

(A very impressive Sunday Jumble!  Not an automatic solve on my end today.  I had to work on it a bit.  And, the pun could almost get by with nary a groan.  But of course some folks are going to groan, just like yer Uncle Rave – occasionally – likes to gripe about some Jumbles being too easy.  Not everybody is going to be happy/satisfied every day.  Dems da breaks!

All six of today’s clue words have been used a plenty.  I never complain about seeing the word “absurd”!  I just love that word.  I did pause for a few seconds with “influx”, because besides the word meaning something coming in the phrase in flux means being in a state of change.  Mine – and most of our – moods are constantly in flux.  Five of today’s jumbles appear to be new, to me.  Though we’ve definitely seen “gatueo” before.  The answer letter layout was a fantastic fifteen letter jumble.  It really kept me guessing for a couple minutes, as there was nothing obvious about it.  I essentially worked backwards from A JOB.  Thought the first word might be HAND, for a couple seconds, before realizing it was LAND.  The remaining ESHIFLM gave me HIMSELF.

Fine cartoon of a former sky-jockey buying himself a farm.  The farmer looks like a farmer, but the buyer looks like he could be anyone.  Only his cockpit reference, and the clue/question, clues you into what he used to do.  Jeff probably sees plenty of farm scenes, living in Indiana.  It’s a big farming state.  Very satisfying Sunday Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
