Answer:  VERSES VERSUS VERSES

(Ehh, sort of.  Just rhyming words never really impressed me much.  All of the clue words are old favorites, with five of the jumbles coming up as new.  We have seen “messea” before.  An impressive 18-letter answer letter layout, but a lot of repeat letters made for a quick solve.  Splendid cartoon.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
