Answer:  BRED WINNER

(Aah!  A nice homophonic stinky pun!  Yes, the past tense of BREED is BRED, which rhymes with BREAD.  Howdy, folks!  I’m yur Captain Obvious, and we’ll be flying into Albuquerque, at an altitude of 33,000 feet, today.  We’ve got clear skies, and a strong tail wind, so we should be there before you know it.  So, fasten your seat-belts, and please don’t harass the attendants!  That’s my job.  Ooh!

A very nice assortment of jumble/clue words.  As clue words we’ve seen ’em all before.  But as jumbles, they are all coming up as new.  The first two were cake, but the six-letter ones were a little trickier.  I got “denote” legitly, but I had to back into “verbal”.  Oh, the irony!  The answer letter layout was a splendid ten letter jumble.  But, the leading nature of the clue/question, and the quotation marks led me to the finish line.  Seeing I needed the R and B allowed me to see “verbal”.

Fine cartoon of the race horse, jockey and owners, in the winner’s circle.  This horsie better be winning big purses, because feeding, boarding, and training him does not come cheap.  Heck . . . they eat like horses!  Aren’t you guys glad that I didn’t go with any horse apples analogies, with the stinky pun part above?  I’m so over that kind of childishness!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
